How shells works
Shells collect where a wide, gently sloping shelf faces the prevailing swell, and they pile up after storms and on the outgoing tide. The best hunting is at low tide in the hour after a blow, along the wrack line and the first sandbar. Live shells are protected in many places and go back in the water.
